IMS offers both DECT and 802.1 Wi-fi telephone solutions to serve a number of industries. These phones can receive calls that originate from a Wireless Telephony Application Interface (WTAI) - a middleware application that collects alarm and alert messages and distributes them to the intended recipient via pager or phone. These messages are transmitted over a local wireless network using IP protocol.
